The Engineering and Technology Management Education and Research Council (ETMERC) was founded in 2003 to represent education and research in the fields of Engineering Management and Technology Management (ETM). These fields have grown rapidly over the past few decades, as evidenced by the many programs and departments at prominent universities all over the world.

Membership of ETMERC is open to all academic units of institutions offering university-level ETM or similar programs. The aim is is to advance the field by

  • holding meetings among heads of ETM or similar programs and/or departments, or their designees on a regular basis
  • discussing common issues and challenges, and taking collective action for their solution
  •  conducting benchmarking studies for the establishment of norms and standards in ETM education
  • providing support for the pursuit of common issues such as the expansion of the research component, identification of new funding sources, development of program curricula, facilitation of joint research activities, faculty and student exchanges, information disse mination about new developments, recognition of ETM as a mainstream field of study in universities, and guidelines for PhD. programs
  • developing accreditation guidelines for the departments or programs seeking them and facilitation of external evaluations on request
  •  raising the awareness and profile of ETM in academia and industry
  • establishing liaison, cooperation and exchange of information with other related organizations in the field of ETM
  • acting as a representative body for ETM education and research.
